What is Project Empower?

Our purpose is to offer women comprehensive, continuous longterm support as they are on their recovery journey. Most women with addiction to drugs and alcohol suffered severe trauma as children and adults, keeping them imprisoned in cycles of addiction and unhealthy life patterns. We teach women holistic practices and offer many forms of support to change the direction of their lives. We emphasize their value, beauty and purpose in life, sometimes giving them a sense of worth for the first time. Women tell us we treat them like human beings, not addicts as they experience daily “in the system.” If a woman relapses, unlike other programs, we seek to maintain contact with her and provide appropriate support as they climb out of the deep chasm of addiction once again. We joke that we are a “life sentence,” if they want it!
