The Cabaret was a great experience for me. I had been having some issues at the house in the days leading up to it, but as soon as we got there it seemed like we all came together. We were able to work as a team and put aside any differences or conflicts we were having. The poems and dances were so beautiful and empowering they touched my heart in a deep way because of their truth and honesty. All of the women were brave and put their fears aside on that night; it was really nice to see that. It felt really good to be there, and I had a great time. It meant a lot to me to be a part of that. The way Joy and Alison spoke of us was so nice as opposed to the way many of us have been spoken to during our lives or addictions. It was definitely empowering. Thanks!!

The experience at the Cabaret caused me to become empowered. I have never performed and having that chance made me feel unafraid of my fears. It was great to be with people strength and happiness. I enjoyed the other performers and the finger food was great. I’m grateful to be with people who support me. I now know there is more to life that I can enjoy. I know that each one of God’s creations are filled with a special light. I want to remain a part of the women of empowerment as much as I can. We can change lives because mine has been changed. Thank you for everything.

My experience at the Cabaret was a new and exciting one. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed myself. To see and hear all the different talent that donated their time and energy was wonderful. It felt good to be a part of the performance. To have people enjoy my work made me feel special. To have the ladies and myself come together and do something for a good cause like supporting one another was awesome. I enjoyed myself and I am looking forward to next year. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

It was a beautiful evening inside and out. The room’s decorations were festive. Due to health problems, I couldn’t participate in the dance. I learned more about Project Empower and Joy and Alison. The performances were fabulous and I was so proud of all my housemates. I was grateful for being a part of Project Empower and Liberty Manor.

My experience at the Cabaret this year – April 30, 2011 – was very uplifting. This was my first year going, and it’s because of Joy and Alison – they take their time out to come work with us girls at Liberty Manor now for 3 ½ months. So I’ve come to know both Joy and Alison, and their work is GREAT! I’ve never met two more caring and helping women, and when they told us about the Cabaret, I could of never imagined it to be what it was!!! I now have a better understanding of the true meaning of “caring” – it was great and I had the best time ever up on stage dancing. Thanks so, so much.

I am so lucky to be a part of this program. The 4th Annual Cabaret was such a great experience for me. Project Empower is opening up new positive, healthy avenues for me. Today I am adding to the positive energy in the world. Joy and Alison bring a sense of togetherness to our home each Wednesday. They inspire me to surround myself with positive energy, to embrace women, and to take risks to experience new things. – With my love and gratitude!

My experience at the Cabaret of April 30, 2011 – When I stepped into the doors of First Baptist Church, I felt clean and serene. My thoughts were clear, my heart was calm, and I felt content. I felt like I was home. I see the joy within the people and to know that I am free. I knew that God walking at my side and God did speak to me all night. When it was time for me to perform, I felt like God just washed my soul. I stood up tall and let my joy bring out the best in me. I smiled proudly all night long. That night was nice and I just knew that night has changed my life. I stand up tall and walk so free to know that God is there within me. Thank you.

The Cabaret was such a moving, magical experience for me. I really enjoyed dancing with the ladies. Alison is a magnificent dancer and teacher. We had such a great time on the stage dancing. The whole performance was wonderful. The food was great, and the decorations were beautiful. I really just loved everything about the Cabaret. It was really empowering. I thank everyone that made the Cabaret possible. I want to especially thank Joy for letting me be part of the Cabaret. With my love!

As we drove up to the First Baptist Church of Rochester, I was smiling. The ladies of Liberty Manor are putting on a dance! Also one of our clients is going to do a poem, and the other one is going to sing a song. The show was nice and I enjoyed the show, the food and drinks (pop, etc.). I would recommend anyone to come to see the show next year.

Dear Joy and Alison – I thought, honestly, that our dance number was kind of corny. I was a bit embarrassed to have to perform in front of an audience. However, when I arrived there, I felt myself getting excited about it. When I got on the stage I found that it was a lot of fun. The whole program was entertaining, and the food was wonderful. Thank you for giving the “Ladies of Liberty Manor” the opportunity to participate.

It was really beautiful. It brought out the little girl in me. It was so beautiful and spiritual, breath-taking. The Cabaret even boosted my self-esteem. I finally made my 4-year-old proud of me. The Cabaret made me go beyond myself and took me to a whole new level. Encouraged me to keep fighting the good fight. Being up on the stage and people cheering made me feel like somebody. The Cabaret brought out the talent in me and others. My experience made me whole and complete. Mentally made me stable and focused. I have much respect for myself and others around me. I love myself today and I am more determined to stay clean and focused. Thank God and the Cab aret!

The Cabaret on April 30, 2011 was an incredible experience. I enjoyed all the performers (especially the ones from Liberty Manor). For me the experience was unforgettable because I performed two amazing songs. I haven’t performed on stage in quite a while, so to be up on stage again was amazing. Also, to be able to perform for all the ladies at the Manor and for Joy and Alison was extremely special to me. I hope that after I leave Liberty Manor I can still be a part of Project Empower and be a part of the Cabaret next year.

It was a pleasure watching the women from the house perform. I was “thrilled to tears” when Eleanor read her poem. The Pierogi Man surprised. I didn’t know how much I liked them. The Cabaret was very well put together and enjoyable, a very professional production.
